Job Summary
We are seeking a HANDS ON, ORGANIZED, and DETAIL-Oriented Quality Engineer to join our CNC Machining Manufacturing team. In this role, your expertise will support the manufacturing of precision machined CNC metal parts for the Mining, Oil & Gas, Energy, industries. Responsibilities
- Perform first piece inspections to support CNC machine operation requirements. Including the ability to identify and set up gaging for production operators.
- Work closely with manufacturing engineer, and production operators to resolve issues and provide support on special projects, as needed.
- Utilize programmable Mitutoyo CMM to support production operations, previous CMM experience and programming Required.
- Report and monitor rework and scrap from manufacturing operations.
- Provide quality support to all areas of the plant on an as needed basis. Other responsibilities as assigned
- Read blueprints, including geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols, to determine product specifications and evaluate products for conformance.
- Participate in measurement (R&R) and process capability studies as assigned.
- Utilize and manage gage calibration software.
- Working knowledge of ERP software.
- Ability to complete special measurement requests for investigative support of all departments.
- Diagnose problems and perform maintenance on gages to ensure accurate measurements.
- Perform routine calibration on necessary gaging as appropriate.
- Enter data for reports, including supplier capability, supplier scorecards, receipt of raw material, and inspection documentation.
- Proficiency with measurement devices (not limited to): basic hand gages, scope, roundness tester, CMM operation, optical comparator, contour tracer, profilometer, etc.
- New part inspection sheet creation and plan, determining appropriate measurement techniques and frequency for existing and new product launch.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and electronically with engineering and production departments.
- Willing and able to perform roving inspections and dock audits.
- Able to produce and modify appropriate documentation related to QMS IATF16949 requirements: PPAP, Gage R&R, lab methods and reports, etc.
- Compile data into various chart forms: histogram, capability, etc.
- Perform additional individual assignments as supervisors may direct.
- Able to understand and support the current procedures and documents within the Quality Management System (QMS).
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Geometry-level math abilities
- Mechanical abilities
- SPC experience
- ISO/TS 16949 experience
- Ability to work within the Microsoft Office Suite of products
- Experience in manufacturing quality
- Ability to utilize both metric and standard units of measure
