Vice President of Delivery Operations

Salary: $200,000 – $225,000 + benefits
Nter Talent is supporting a fast-growing, technology-driven food and logistics business in the search for a Vice President of Delivery Operations to lead and scale its end-to-end last-mile delivery network.
The Vice President of Delivery Operations will have full ownership of the company’s last-mile delivery function, overseeing routing, dispatch, fleet operations, field execution, and remote operational teams. This leader will be responsible for ensuring a seamless delivery experience while driving operational efficiency, service reliability, and cost optimisation across the network.
The role requires a highly experienced operational leader capable of managing complex logistics environments and large, multi-layered teams, including senior leadership, field managers, and frontline delivery teams. A key focus will be building leadership capability across the organisation while fostering a culture centred on accountability, engagement, safety, and continuous improvement.
Working closely with cross-functional teams across technology, labour planning, customer experience, and operations, the successful candidate will play a critical role in improving routing efficiency, delivery density, and network scalability while supporting continued business growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead all last-mile delivery operations including fleet management, driver workforce, routing, dispatch, and field execution
• Drive performance across key metrics including on-time delivery, cost per order, route productivity, and overall service quality
• Partner with planning and technology teams to optimise routing, scheduling, and capacity planning using data and operational insights
• Ensure full compliance with safety and regulatory requirements across fleet and driver operations
• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing multi-layered operations team across Directors, Managers, and frontline delivery staff
• Drive operational improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reliability, and scalability of the delivery network
• Oversee financial performance of the transportation function, ensuring disciplined cost management and operational efficiency
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 10+ years of experience in operations, logistics, transportation, or last-mile delivery environments
• 7+ years of leadership experience managing multi-level operational teams
• Experience within e-commerce, grocery delivery, logistics, or transportation environments strongly preferred
• Proven ability to lead complex operations while balancing service excellence, efficiency, and cost control
• Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving capabilities
• Demonstrated experience implementing operational improvements and scaling delivery networks
• A leadership style focused on team development, accountability, and operational excellence
