A large manufacturing client in Waukesha, Wisconsin is looking to bring on a contract to hire logistics Specialist. This position will responsible for executing logistics strategy and processes for movement of all freight throughout the company for both domestic and international. This person will be responsible for handling inbound and outbound freight, assisting, and working cooperatively with different teams to accomplish company’s growth goals.
Must Haves
- At least three years of experience in domestic and international logistics or shipping/receiving, inventory
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work onsite
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate with sales team and project managers to promote accurate and timely processing of freight shipments in process to customers.
- Responsible for managing USA inbound and outbound transportation requirements to ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining high service levels.
- Act as liaison between carriers, warehouse, customer service, sales, drivers, and customers to ensure all shipments meet delivery requirements.
- Analyze/negotiate RFQ annual/spot rates and qualify new carriers as appropriate.
- Develop/present logistics scorecards or dashboards with relevant KPIs on a quarterly/annual basis.
- Quarterly Business Review meetings with logistics carriers.
- Expedite domestic and international shipments as required.
- Collaborate with engineering/purchasing/quality to drive packaging improvements to improve truck/container utilization and implement processes to ensure part-packaging damage is minimal.
- Create and maintain domestic and international routing guides as required for inbound and outbound shipments.
- Train shipping personnel and other respective departments on shipping, documentation, and any other respective transportation responsibilities.
- Request domestic and international freight quotes and secure booking arrangements with approved carriers and freight forwarders for equipment/part shipments.
- Specialized equipment freight: manage the transportation and planning process for specialized equipment (flatbed trucks, rigging, etc.).
- Understand, train, and facilitate compliance with all state and Department of Transportation (DOT) and Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) regulations.
- Establish a freight bill auditing/resolution program in conjunction with accounting and purchasing departments.
- Create and maintain records of all forms of transactions relating to the company’s logistics operations in accordance to Customs/IRS law.
Salary of $75,000 or so upon direct hire conversion
