JOB PURPOSE:
The Logistics Manager is a strategic leader with strong financial acumen overseeing transportation strategy, freight cost management, and logistics performance across the business. This role will be responsible for managing logistics within the company P&L, with a focus on optimizing freight costs, improving margins as a percentage of revenue, and driving operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in transportation and supply chain leadership, combined with the ability to analyze cost-to-serve, negotiate carrier agreements, and implement strategies that improve service levels while protecting profitability. This individual will partner closely with finance and commercial teams to ensure logistics strategy supports revenue growth and margin targets.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing freight costs and logistics performance within the company P&L
- Driving improvements in freight cost as a percentage of revenue
- Strategic carrier sourcing, negotiation, and transportation optimization
- Leveraging data and analytics to improve cost-to-serve and operational efficiency
- Cross-functional collaboration with finance, operations, and commercial leadership
- Manage and report on the following Key Performance Metrics:
- Freight cost as % of revenue
- Logistics contribution to gross margin
- Transportation cost per shipment / mile / pound
- On-time delivery performance
- Carrier cost savings and contract performance
- Network efficiency and cost-to-serve improvements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain leadership
- Proven experience managing or influencing logistics-related P&L performance
- Strong experience managing freight costs and margins as a percentage of revenue
- Deep understanding of logistics financial metrics including:
- Freight cost as % of revenue
- Cost-to-serve analysis
- Contribution margin
- Transportation cost per unit/mile
- Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities
- Ability to translate operational logistics strategy into financial performance
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across finance, sales, and operations
- Strong negotiation skills with carriers and logistics partners
- Strategic logistics thinker with strong financial discipline
- Comfortable operating at both operational and executive levels
- Data-driven decision maker with deep understanding of transportation economics
- Strong communicator who can translate logistics performance into financial outcomes
