Job Title: Logistics Specialist
Location: Raleigh, NC (Onsite)
Position Overview
A transportation and logistics organization is seeking a Logistics Specialist to support operations. This role focuses on coordinating freight shipments, managing carrier execution, and ensuring reliable delivery across customer accounts.
The position begins with a strong operational focus and is designed as a development path toward a customer facing account management role. The right candidate will gain exposure to freight operations, transportation coordination, and shipper relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate shipments from pickup through final delivery
• Source and manage qualified carriers for freight movements
• Monitor shipments in transit and proactively resolve delays or service issues
• Ensure shipments move according to agreed transit schedules and service requirements
• Provide shipment updates to internal teams and customers
• Work closely with shippers, distributors, and receivers to ensure delivery accuracy
• Track shipment documentation including bills of lading, rate confirmations, and delivery receipts
• Assist with carrier negotiations, load coverage, and pricing coordination
• Support customer accounts with scheduling, tracking, and service management
• Develop working knowledge of transportation operations and shipping patterns
Requirements
• 5+ years of experience in freight brokerage, logistics operations, or transportation coordination preferred
• Understanding of domestic freight execution including carrier coordination, shipment tracking, and issue resolution
• Ability to manage time sensitive freight movements and resolve operational issues quickly
• Strong communication, organization, and problem solving skills
• Experience coordinating with carriers, dispatchers, and logistics platforms or TMS systems
• Comfortable operating in a fast paced logistics environment with multiple active shipments
Preferred Background
• Experience working within a 3PL, freight brokerage, or transportation operations team
• Exposure to truckload or LTL freight coordination
• Experience supporting shipper accounts and managing shipment execution from pickup through delivery
• Background in transportation, logistics operations, or supply chain coordination
