About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Data Analyst to join our Industrials Long/Short Equity team in Austin, with a particular focus on driving AI adoption and advanced analytics across the investment process. As the dedicated analytics and AI expert within a dynamic and collaborative team, you will play a critical role in monetizing data assets and extracting actionable investment signals across the industrial sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and implement AI-driven models, tools, and workflows that directly support investment decision-making.
- Partner closely with fundamental analysts to integrate alternative and traditional datasets into research on companies across the industrials universe.
- Identify new opportunities to apply AI and machine learning to generate differentiated investment ideas and improve portfolio performance.
- Own the lifecycle of data - from sourcing and cleaning through model deployment, maintenance, and performance measurement.
- Build scalable research pipelines leveraging Python, SQL, and core data science/AI libraries.
- Clearly communicate complex findings and AI-driven recommendations to investment professionals in a practical, business-focused manner.
- Remain hands-on with data, AI algorithms, and new technologies, proactively keeping the team at the cutting edge.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative or technical field (STEM, data science, engineering, CS, etc.)
- Strong skills in Python and SQL; expertise with machine learning/AI libraries.
- Experience applying AI/machine learning to real-world datasets; finance/investing experience or deep industry curiosity is a strong plus.
- Proven problem solver who thrives in high-impact, fast-paced, and collaborative environments.
- Self-starter comfortable being the key analytics resource on a lean team and driving project ownership from idea to impact.
- Clear communicator who enjoys bringing sophisticated research to practical business and investment outcomes.
- Interest in the industrials sector and enthusiasm to expand knowledge across a broad, constantly changing set of companies.
