Overview
The Emergency Response Coordinator (ERC)works under limited supervision while developing, promoting, and implementing preparedness activities and programs as identified by Health Director, preparedness (PHEP) subaward and work plan, emergency response plan (ERP) for SWNPHD and the strategic plan for the nine-county health district. The ERC must be knowledgeable regarding all aspects of the emergency response plan. The ERC must, by training and experience, be able to assess the degree of the public health emergency and to determine appropriate initial action. During a public health emergency, the ERC is expected to coordinate personnel and resources, report on the situation, and monitor the adequacy of the response. The ERC represents SWNPHD at meetings, conferences, and workgroups to develop and update the emergency response plan. The ERC is to attend debriefings after public health emergencies to identify deficiencies in the current emergency response plan and make recommendations to improve the plan based on those observations. This is a full-time position with 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the Public Health Emergency Response Plan using the template provided by Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
- Review and practice the ERP with SWNPHD staff continuously throughout the year.
- Ensure completion of NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 by staff members.
- Work on disease surveillance and with State epi staff to stay informed of issues.
- Work with county emergency managers to plan and implement exercises to test response readiness.
- Conduct annual exercises for the SWNPHD staff on their roles and responsibilities in a public health emergency.
- Will oversee coordination of the health departments response during a public health emergency.
- Lead planning groups throughout the health district in preparing for and coordination of all-hazard public health incidents.
- Responsible for assisting the CFO in creating a budget. Responsible for maintaining and monitoring budget expenditures on monthly basis.
- Responsible for spending within budget guidelines.

Pay: $23.00 - $24.50 per hour
