Title: Engineering / Project Manager
Location: Libertyville, IL 60048
Salary: $120,000–$140,000 (based on experience)
Hours: Monday – Friday | Standard business hours

Sterling Engineering is partnered with a manufacturing organization seeking an Engineering / Project Manager to lead engineering support and project execution across the facility. This role is responsible for coordinating engineering resources, supporting value stream teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations. The position will work closely with production, quality, and leadership teams to improve processes, ensure on-time delivery, and support operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate project-specific engineering support and scheduling activities
- Support engineering needs across all manufacturing value stream teams
- Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturing cells as needed
- Monitor productivity metrics and evaluate processes for continuous improvement opportunities
- Lead and facilitate Kaizen events to improve manufacturing efficiency and workflow
- Ensure effective communication within the engineering department and cross-functional teams
- Remove operational obstacles that impact team performance or production timelines
- Maintain focus on on-time delivery to both internal and external customers
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance feedback to engineering team members
- Support the development of departmental talent and succession planning initiatives
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Maintain strong knowledge of and adherence to the company’s quality policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Process Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of engineering management, Lean manufacturing principles, and production processes
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work both independently and within team environments
