The Technical Business Analyst plays a critical role in translating business needs into precise, actionable technical requirements. This is a hands-on, highly technical role working directly with the CTO and engineering teams to ensure clarity, alignment, and execution across systems, integrations, and product initiatives.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, takes ownership of requirements, and is comfortable working deep in technical detail while collaborating across business and engineering stakeholders.
Role Overview
Business Analysis & Requirement Ownership
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of technical requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals and engineering execution
- Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements
- Translate business use cases, product designs, and interaction flows into clear functional specifications, technical assumptions, and user stories
- Facilitate stakeholder interviews, working sessions, and requirement reviews with leadership and engineering
- Identify gaps, risks, dependencies, and ambiguities early and proactively drive resolution
Technical Collaboration & Solution Support
- Work directly with the CTO, engineers, and product managers to define and clarify technical needs
- Produce clear, concise functional specification documents and supporting technical artifacts
- Define and document API requirements, system interactions, and integration assumptions
- Ensure proposed solutions are technically feasible and aligned with product architecture
- Assist with acceptance criteria, solution validation, and delivery readiness
- Support project planning, tracking, and reporting to ensure timely, high-quality execution
Process Improvement & Documentation
- Develop detailed process flows, system diagrams, and technical documentation
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation in tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Recommend improvements to workflows, system efficiency, scalability, and developer experience
- Contribute to cross-functional initiatives in a startup or innovation-driven environment
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
- 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in a technical or software-focused environment
- Strong technical writing skills with experience producing functional specifications and requirements documentation
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Experience working closely with engineering teams in startups or medium-sized companies
- Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, or similar platforms
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of SaaS platforms, APIs, and system integrations
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and engineering designs
- Familiarity with SQL, scripting, or coding concepts (Python, JavaScript, or similar)
- Experience supporting fast-moving product and engineering teams
