Role Description
We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to design, prototype, and iterate on the hardware systems that power our AI-driven therapeutic discovery platform. This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical Engineer located in South San Francisco, CA and reports to the CTO.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design of next-generation bio x hardware systems
- Build your creations and troubleshoot with your own hands before handing off to fabs
- Design and iterate precision components, assemblies, and enclosures
- Integrate mechanical systems with electronics, sensors, and embedded systems
- Develop and execute plans for assembly, wiring, and prototyping
- Develop manufacturable designs (DFM/DFA) for scaling production
- Create and maintain detailed CAD models and technical drawings
- Collaborate with AI, data science, and biology teams to ensure seamless hardware–software integration
- Implement rapid prototyping workflows (3D printing, machining, laser cutting, etc.)
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical systems

Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- 2+ years of experience designing mechanical components and assemblies
- Strong hands-on experience assembling mechanical systems and performing electrical wiring
- Working understanding of electrical fundamentals (circuits, power systems, signal routing, grounding)
- Experience integrating mechanical systems with electronics and sensors
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.)
- Experience with rapid prototyping tools and methods
- GD&T
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Excellent documentation practices
- Bonus: know how to code / have experience with machine learning
