Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team, responsible for component or system-level packaging design and thermal simulations and testing. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing innovative solutions for our electronics products, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and thermal management. Responsibilities:
System-Level Packaging Design:
- Design and develop mechanical packaging solutions for electronic systems and components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand system requirements and constraints.
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models and drawings of packaging designs.
- Optimize designs for factors such as size, weight, cost, manufacturability, and serviceability.
- Perform structural analysis and ensure designs meet mechanical and environmental specifications.
Thermal Simulation and Analysis:
- Conduct thermal simulations and analyses of electronic systems to predict and optimize thermal performance.
- Utilize thermal simulation software to model heat transfer, airflow, and thermal management strategies.
- Identify potential thermal issues and propose design modifications to improve heat dissipation and thermal efficiency.
- Collaborate with thermal and electronics engineers to integrate thermal solutions into overall system design.
Prototype Development and Testing:
- Prototype and test mechanical packaging designs to validate performance and reliability.
- Coordinate with manufacturing and assembly teams to build and evaluate prototypes.
- Conduct thermal testing and validation experiments to verify simulation results and performance predictions.
- Thermal technology R&D:Keep up to date with state-of-the-art in thermal technologies
- Advance the SOA on thermal technologies to develop IP and advanced thermal solutions
- Design and develop experimental techniques and/or experimental facilities to test advanced thermal solutions
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, reports, and presentations.
- Communicate design concepts, analysis results, and recommendations to stakeholders and project teams.
- Maintain accurate records of design iterations, test results, and design changes.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to mechanical packaging and thermal management.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and innovation in packaging design and thermal solutions.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience in mechanical design, preferably in electronic packaging or thermal management.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) for 3D modeling and drawing.
- Experience with thermal simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, FloTHERM) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Experience with prototype development, testing, and validation.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials selection for mechanical design.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to electronic packaging and thermal management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in the general area of thermal fluid sciences
- Experience developing/operating experimental/test facilities such as open loop air tunnels, open/closed loop water cooling facilities etc.
- Familiar with advanced cooling solutions and enthusiastic about exploring novel cooling solutions for the design.
- Experience with electronic systems design and integration.
- Knowledge of heat transfer principles, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Familiarity with reliability engineering and failure analysis techniques.
- Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
- Background in power, automotive, or consumer electronics industries is a plus.
