⚡ Build Components That Will Power the Next Generation of Hypersonic Flight
I’m working on behalf of a fast-growing, venture-backed aerospace startup that’s designing, building, and testing high-Mach and hypersonic aircraft for national and commercial applications. The team works on Mach 5+ prototypes, advanced turbine-to-ramjet engines, and extreme thermal/structural components, with rapid prototyping cycles that few engineers get to experience.
Why This Role is Unique:
- Hands-on ownership: Develop and scale precision manufacturing processes for complex metallic components — from CAD → prototype → flight hardware.
- Work on world-class technology: Support programs like a supersonic/hypersonic demonstrator series, TBCC propulsion systems, and high-performance mechanical assemblies.
- Collaborate with experts: Partner with design, test, and materials teams to define what world-class manufacturing looks like for next-generation aerospace hardware.
- High-impact environment: Small, empowered teams give you real responsibility and influence over critical components, tooling, and production workflows.
- Mission-driven work: Contribute to projects backed by government contracts and leading VC investors, helping maintain technological leadership in hypersonics.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and scale end-to-end manufacturing processes for machined, welded, or formed precision components.
- Lead first-article builds, troubleshoot manufacturing non-conformances, and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Drive design-for-manufacturability (DFM) with design and development engineers.
- Design and procure tooling, fixtures, and production equipment to improve quality, repeatability, and throughput.
- Mentor technicians and define best practices in a fast-paced, first-principles environment.
- Collaborate with quality, supply chain, and test teams to ensure reliable and high-performing components.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or related engineering discipline.
- 3+ years of precision component manufacturing, preferably in aerospace, defense, or high-performance hardware.
- Hands-on experience with CNC machining, welding (TIG/laser/e-beam), additive manufacturing, GD&T, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Proven ability to develop and scale new manufacturing processes from concept to production.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative startup environment, taking ownership and solving complex problems.
Why You’ll Love This Role:
- Contribute to some of the most ambitious hypersonic aircraft programs in the world.
- Work in a high-performing, mission-driven team delivering hardware that advances national and commercial aerospace capabilities.
- Exposure to cutting-edge materials, propulsion systems, and rapid flight-test programs.
- Competitive salary with equity, fully paid healthcare, unlimited PTO, paid parental leave, and other perks.
