Job Title: Traffic- Shipping Manager
Location: Gary, IN
Salary: $80,000-$90,000
LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking a Traffic- Shipping Manager to join our client's organization in the Gary, IN area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage inbound and outbound transportation activities including LTL, FTL, parcel, and brokered freight
- Optimize freight costs through carrier selection, rate analysis, routing strategies, and contract management
- Monitor transit times, service levels, and on‑time delivery performance to ensure customer commitments are met
- Oversee daily shipping operations and supervise traffic and shipping staff, including training and performance management
- Manage relationships with carriers, brokers, and 3PL partners to ensure service reliability and compliance
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and internal shipping procedures
- Partner cross‑functionally with production, warehouse, and customer service teams to align shipping priorities
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce delays, improve efficiency, and control transportation costs
Key Qualifications:
- Experience managing traffic, shipping, or transportation operations in a manufacturing or distribution environment
- Strong knowledge of domestic freight modes including LTL, FTL, parcel, and brokered transportation
- Proven ability to analyze freight data, manage costs, and improve delivery performance
- Leadership experience supervising shipping or logistics teams in a fast‑paced environment
- Familiarity with carrier management, freight contracts, and transportation compliance requirements
- Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, warehouse, and customer‑facing teams
- Hands‑on, problem‑solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
- Proficiency with transportation systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office tools
