Job Overview
We are looking for a highly motivated volunteer coordinator to join our team for up to 12 weeks during the summer of 2026. The team member will be the front-facing person with volunteers, groups, and partners helping to organize the relief efforts in the High Country of Western North Carolina. This person will work with other team members to ensure LDR Carolina volunteers have meaningful work to engage in while in WNC. The ideal person is already familiar with the disaster recovery and local nonprofits in Avery, Watauga, and/or Ashe counties.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with volunteer groups prior to arrival with the details for their time here in conjunction with other team members.
- Serve as host to groups and the primary point person while groups are in the High Country. This includes leading orientation, reflections, and collecting data needed. Ensure the housing facility is ready for each group.
- Assist in securing volunteer opportunities with local organizations. Maintaining High Country Volunteer Schedules. Be responsive to groups when schedules don’t work as planned.
- Help secure necessary supplies for projects.
- Be a project lead on home-owner projects as requested
- Attending LTRG meetings in the High Country as needed
- Participate in weekly collaboration meetings to ensure volunteer schedules are complete.
- Prepare and submit reports on disaster recovery activities
- Use shared folders and project management system to efficient communication and quality work
Requirements
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.

- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Working cell phone and laptop computer.
- Knowledge of MS Office and Google Drive tools.
- Ability to travel as needed (mileage reimbursed)
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports.
- Not required but appreciated:
- Experience working with government agencies and non-profit organizations
- Strong understanding of disaster response principles and practices
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $600.00 per week
