CAMS is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Controls & Work Management Planner to support capital projects and major maintenance initiatives within the power generation and energy infrastructure sector.
This hybrid role combines project controls (cost management, schedule integration, forecasting, reporting) with site work management planning, including Maximo work order creation, procurement coordination, and invoice processing. The planner ensures structured financial control, transparent reporting, and seamless integration between ongoing project execution and plant operations.
The position works closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, the Project Construction Manager, Operations, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Finance, serving as a critical link between project governance, site work processes, and financial oversight.
Merom Generating Station is a 2-Unit, 1080-MW rated coal-fired power plant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Controls & Financial Management

Develop, maintain, and update cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and cost control structures.

Establish and manage budgets, cost codes, and control accounts aligned with capital approval processes.

Track and reconcile commitments, accruals, and actuals against approved budgets.

Prepare monthly cost reports, variance analyses, and executive-level dashboards.

Support change management workflows, including tracking contingency usage and cost impacts.

Coordinate with Finance to ensure alignment between project cost data and corporate accounting systems.
Schedule Integration & Planning Support

Assist in the development and maintenance of integrated project schedules (Primavera P6 or equivalent).

Support earned-value style progress tracking, schedule updates, and milestone validation.

Ensure schedule data accurately reflects project execution constraints and plant coordination needs.
Work Management Planning (Maximo-Centric)

Create, manage, and maintain Maximo work orders supporting project and major maintenance activities.

Coordinate purchase requisitions (PRs), purchase orders (POs), and procurement workflows.

Track material status, service procurement, and readiness for field execution.

Support invoice validation, approval workflows, and payment processing consistent with contractual terms.

Maintain accurate work order cost tracking to support audits and financial reporting.

Align work management processes with site Operations and Maintenance requirements.
Interface & Cross-Functional Coordination

Serve as an integration point between Projects, Construction, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Finance.

Support EPC contractors and specialty vendors by ensuring proper setup in work management and procurement systems.

Assist with DOE, regulatory, or owner-required reporting as applicable.

Participate in planning meetings, cost reviews, schedule/status reviews, and readiness discussions.
Governance & Compliance

Ensure all project controls and work management activities comply with internal controls, owner standards, and audit requirements.

Support documentation for capital approvals, procurement traceability, and cost recovery processes.

Maintain disciplined recordkeeping to support claims avoidance, regulatory reviews, and audit readiness.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).

4+ years of experience in project controls, work management planning, or cost/schedule support roles.

Solid understanding of project cost control, forecasting, reporting, and schedule integration.

Experience supporting capital projects, outages, environmental retrofits, or major maintenance initiatives.

Strong analytical skills with excellent organization, communication, and cross-functional coordination capabilities.
Preferred
- Experience in coal, gas, or renewable power generation facilities.

Hands-on experience with IBM Maximo, including work orders, PR/PO workflows, and invoice processing.

Familiarity with Primavera P6, SAP, Oracle, or other enterprise project systems.

Experience supporting Owner’s Representative or hybrid owner/plant project environments.

Experience assisting DOE-funded or regulated infrastructure projects.

Ability to operate effectively in early-stage or rapidly evolving project environments.
