Position Overview/Description
· Plans and directs activities of the Construction Department and vehicle fleet management. Develops short and long-range business plans, budgets, KPI’s and metrics. Authorizes expenditures and oversees projects, services and technologies. Evaluates market demand and makes recommendations to executive management.
Essential Job Functions
· Supervises and coordinates work activities of Construction Department, operation and fleet vehicle service activities. Responsible for determining which construction activities will be completed with Company personnel and which will be bid to contractors.
· Makes recommendations for vehicle and equipment replacements. Coordinates with Human Resources on vehicle claims, quotes and matters related to vehicle inventory.
· Meets and coordinates projects with contractors, power companies, state agencies, and municipalities.
· Assists the Engineers with job orders and the requisitioning of materials and obtainment of buried service permissions.
· Interviews, hires and trains employees; responsible for planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and discipling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
· Establishes and monitors departmental KPI’s and metrics; compares them to established objectives and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
· Acts as a company safety representative. Ensures BBT personnel understand REA specifications, established safety procedures and preventative maintenance for all equipment.
Qualifications
· Associates degree in Engineering or related technical field; two to five years related construction telephony supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Knowledge of telephony cutover procedures, as well as right-of-way / p acquisition.
· Thorough understanding and operation of heavy equipment.
· Strong analytical skills necessary to troubleshoot complex electronic/telephony problems.
· Strong interpersonal communications skills necessary to maintain productive relationships with internal and external customers.
· Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Walking, sitting, standing and crouching are required.
