Ebiz Solutions Inc is looking for candidate for a specialty manufacturing and installation company focused on the design, fabrication, and installation of custom kitchen ventilation systems. Our products are engineered-to-order, code-driven, and installed in complex operating environments. We are the only company of our kind based in this region, serving clients who require high-quality manufacturing, precise execution, and seamless coordination from design through final inspection.
As the company enters its next phase of growth, we are seeking a hands-on Chief Operating Officer to professionalize operations, strengthen execution, and scale the business without compromising quality or compliance.
Role Summary
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee all operational functions of the company, including manufacturing, engineering coordination, procurement, project management, permitting, installation, quality control, and service. This role requires deep experience in specialty engineered goods, custom fabrication, and installation-driven operations within regulated environments.
The ideal candidate is an operator who understands how to align shop production with field execution while building scalable systems, accountability, and high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
· Lead day-to-day operations across manufacturing, engineering coordination, purchasing, project management, installation, and service
· Translate company strategy into executable operational plans with clear KPIs
· Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to specification
Manufacturing & Fabrication
· Oversee custom fabrication of engineered ventilation systems and related components
· Optimize production scheduling, labor utilization, and workflow efficiency
· Drive cost control, quality consistency, and margin improvement
· Establish standardized quality and inspection processes
Engineering, Compliance & Permitting
· Ensure designs and installations comply with applicable fire, mechanical, and safety codes
· Oversee coordination with permitting authorities and inspectors
· Improve design-for-manufacturing and design-for-installation processes
Installation & Field Operations
· Lead installation teams and subcontractors across multiple job sites
· Ensure safe, compliant, and inspection-ready installations
· Improve coordination between factory output, logistics, and field schedules
· Reduce rework, delays, and change orders
Process, Systems & Scale
· Build and document SOPs across all operational functions
· Implement or optimize ERP, CRM, and job-costing systems
· Establish dashboards and reporting for real-time operational visibility
Financial & Performance Management
· Own operational P&L performance in partnership with Finance
· Improve gross margins through labor efficiency, procurement strategy, and process optimization
· Support accurate estimating and pricing with reliable cost data
People & Culture
· Lead, mentor, and develop department heads and frontline managers
· Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations
· Build a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
Qualifications Required
· 6+ years of senior operational leadership experience in specialty manufacturing, custom fabrication, HVAC/MEP, or engineered systems
· Proven experience managing both manufacturing and installation/field operations
· Strong understanding of operating in code-regulated and inspection-driven environments
· Experience scaling operations in a growing, owner-led company
· Strong financial acumen with job costing and margin management experience
Preferred
· Background in metal fabrication, mechanical systems, or engineered construction products
· Experience implementing ERP, CRM, and project management systems
· Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement training
· Experience working with hospitality, institutional, or high-spec environments
