Metric Consulting is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Debris Monitor to support disaster recovery operations. This field-based role is critical to ensuring debris removal activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. We are currently hiring Debris Monitors for the areas of Hollandale, Vicksburg and Leland (Mississippi).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to work extended hours (up to 12 hours per day, 7 days per week) for 60+ consecutive days
- Ability to visually verify debris loading operations throughout all phases of work
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in physically demanding and potentially hazardous environments
- Valid driver’s license (not suspended) with a cleared Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) prior to employment
- Current auto insurance and reliable personal transportation
- Personal cell phone with the ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and team members
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening
- Required to wear long pants and work boots; additional personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided
- Ability to climb and work on ladders 10 feet or higher
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to tolerate exposure to loud noise, dirt, heavy machinery, and hazardous conditions
- Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to observe debris operations for extended periods
Responsibilities:
- Observe and document debris removal operations to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards
- Visually monitor the loading of eligible debris into haul trucks at approved collection sites
- Verify that trucks are properly measured, certified, operated, and safely loaded
- Accurately review and verify load tickets for each debris load
- Monitor Debris Management Sites (DMS) for environmental compliance and report hazardous conditions or violations to supervisors or project managers
- Ensure debris removal activities comply with local ordinances and state and federal regulations
- Identify and report safety risks such as downed power lines, traffic hazards, or unsafe work practices
- Confirm that only approved and eligible debris is collected and transported
- Document contractor non-compliance, improper equipment use, or safety concerns
- Maintain accurate logs and records, including photographic documentation of damages to utilities, roadways, or private property
- Communicate regularly with the dispatch center and field supervisors
- Perform duties in alignment with organizational values of Care, Service, and Excellence
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, during emergency activations

Compensation:
- Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
- Mileage Reimbursement: $.725 per mile (up to 50 miles per day)
Employment Status:
This position is temporary and offered on an “as-needed” basis in support of disaster response efforts. Employment is at-will and does not constitute a contract for any specific duration.
