Position: Supply Chain Director
Location: Chattanooga, TN or Portland, OR - 5x a week onsite
Salary: $145-150k
Travel: In person training in South Florida/ Additional travel across Chattanooga, TN or Portland, OR a few times a quarter required
Position Overview
The Director of Supply Chain owns end-to-end supply chain performance across demand/supply planning, procurement, international and domestic sourcing, inbound/outbound logistics, and warehouse operations. This is a highly cross-functional, fast-moving role requiring strong execution discipline, clear communication across time zones, and a bias for action.
A key part of onboarding includes structured in-person training for 4 weeks at our Florida location, with breaks in between for travel home.
Responsibilities
End-to-End Supply Chain Leadership
- Own end-to-end supply chain outcomes: service levels, inventory health, lead times, and cost.
- Establish operating rhythms (weekly/monthly) to drive predictability and reduce surprises.
- Define and track performance against set KPIs and OKRs
Planning & Inventory Management
- Lead demand and supply planning in partnership with Sales, Finance, and Operations (S&OP or equivalent cadence).
- Set and continuously improve safety stock, reorder points, MOQ strategies, and inventory segmentation.
- Drive inventory accuracy through cycle counting, root-cause problem solving, and master data governance.
Procurement & Sourcing (International + Domestic)
- Assist in supplier selection, qualification, and ongoing performance (quality, lead time, delivery reliability, cost).
- Assist with negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts; implement supplier scorecards and quarterly business reviews.
- Lead risk management: dual sourcing, capacity planning, long-lead component strategy, and geopolitical/shipping disruption contingencies.
Logistics & Trade Compliance
- Manage inbound and outbound freight strategy (ocean/air/ground), carrier performance, and cost-to-serve.
- Own import processes, customs documentation, Incoterms alignment, and compliance basics (in partnership with brokers and internal stakeholders).
- Improve lead times and freight cost through mode optimization and better planning.
Owned Warehouse Operations
- Lead the owned warehouse function: receiving, put-away, picking/packing, shipping, returns/RMA handling, cycle counts, and inventory controls.
- Ensure operational standards and SOPs that deliver accuracy, speed, and safety.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput and reduce errors, damages, and expedite costs.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Time Zone Coordination
- Partner with Customer Support, Sales, Finance, Product, and Operations to resolve supply constraints and prevent customer-impacting issues.
- Coordinate across suppliers, internal teams, and partners in multiple time zones with clear handoffs and escalation paths.
- Build, coach, and develop a strong team; create accountability and a high-performance culture.
People Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of site managers and supervisors.
- Foster a culture of engagement, safety, and ownership at all levels.
- Conduct regular site visits and performance assessments to support leadership development and operational consistency.
- Drive accountability through measurable objectives and transparent reporting.
Travel & Training Requirement
- Onboarding includes ~4 total weeks of in-person training at our Florida location, typically delivered as week-long sessions with breaks in between to allow travel home (cadence scheduled in advance).
- Additional travel may be required for supplier visits, audits, and operational needs (domestic and international as required).
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, or other comparable degree.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in operations, logistics, fulfillment, or manufacturing.
- Proven ability to lead high-volume environments with diverse teams and shifting priorities.
- Demonstrated success in operational execution, labor management, and process standardization.
- Deep understanding of operational reporting systems, with proficiency in data-driven performance analysis.
- Strong leadership presence and ability to motivate teams through clear goals and consistent feedback.
- Experience managing international and domestic sourcing, including long-lead items and supplier performance management.
- Experience operating within and/or leading an owned warehouse (process, controls, accuracy, throughput).
- Strong analytical capability; able to use data to drive decisions and outcomes.
- People leadership experience (direct and/or matrixed team leadership).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- ERP/MRP expertise (NetSuite would be strong advantage)
- Strong Excel skills; BI tools a plus.
- Trade compliance familiarity (Incoterms, HTS basics, brokers, import documentation).
