This Role In Summary
Whirlpool Corporation is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Industrial Engineer to join our Process Transformation team in Cleveland, TN. This is onsite role.
This critical role suits motivated individuals who thrive on improving manufacturing processes, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and contributing to meaningful change in a dynamic environment.
You will assist in process analysis and optimization, workplace organization, support lean projects, contribute to new product integrations, and participate in activities focused on improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reducing scrap, eliminating breakdowns, and driving Kaizen events across Fabrication and Assembly areas.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Process Analysis & Improvement — Support evaluation of current production processes through data collection, time studies, and basic performance metrics to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.Design & Implementation Support — Assist in developing and implementing optimized workflows, layouts, and methods to enhance production flow, minimize waste, and improve resource utilization using lean principles.Continuous Improvement — Participate in root cause analysis, Kaizen events, and initiatives targeting OEE improvements, scrap reduction, breakdown elimination, and cost savings.New Product & Process Integration — Contribute to integrating new product designs into manufacturing lines, supporting flexible processes that align with capacity needs and efficiency goals.Data Analysis & Standards — Utilize tools like ProPlanner or MODAPS to analyze data, update labor standards, validate data integrity, and support decision-making.World Class Manufacturing (WCM)/Lean — Learn and apply WCM/Lean methodologies in daily operations, problem-solving, and process design for cost, safety, maintainability, and efficiency.Project Support — Assist in improvement projects, including planning, execution, training support, and progress tracking under guidance of senior team members.Limited travel (<10%) possible to collaborate with suppliers or other Whirlpool facilities.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 1+ years of experience in manufacturing
Preferred Skills And Experiences
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or other Engineering disciplines considered with experience in lean manufacturing, time studies, or process optimization
- Proficiency in Google Sheets/Excel (formulas, data analysis)
- Knowledge of Lean tools, WCM, Kaizen, or basic Six Sigma concepts
- Experience with production software (e.g., ProPlanner, routers) or MODAPTS
- Basic familiarity with manufacturing processes; exposure to sheet metal fabrication (stamping, bending, welding) or assembly operations
- Eager learner with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team-oriented, 24/7 manufacturing environment. Good communication skills to collaborate across functions
