Responsibilities
The Senior Director of Transportation directs the company-wide InnovAge transportation programs that include transport of participants, meals, durable medical equipment (DME) and pharmaceuticals. The Senior Director of Transportation oversees vehicle repairs and maintenance for InnovAge/s fleet in addition to managing the transportation budget.
Administration
– 60%
- Assists in developing the annual transportation budget in collaboration with the COOs for each region and the Corporate COO.
- Maintains the transportation department budget within allowed and reasonable objectives in addition to established budgetary guidelines.
- Implements new policies, procedures and software programs in order to satisfy regulatory requirements.
- Collaborates with the Manager, Sourcing - Fleet and Supply Chain in regards to vehicle licensure and maintenance requirement, ensures that requirements are met for all who use the vehicles. Ensures that vehicles have up-to-date Department of Motor Vehicle registrations, forms, license plates and emission stickers.
- Collaborates with Center Directors and Executive Directors of each center to ensure best practices and compliance.
- Directs the transportation scheduling department across the organization in collaboration with the local Transportation Leadership and Center Directors in order to provide efficient use of TLC vehicles and equipment.
- Conducts accident investigations that affect the transportation department.
- Maintains various computer databases for the transportation department.
- Researches new vehicle options and assists the purchasing department in the acquisition of new vehicles as needed.
- Attends Intake and Assessment (IA) Team meetings, Executive Management meetings and other meetings deemed necessary by Executive staff on a routine basis or as needed. Assist with management of contracted transportation vendors including regulatory personnel requirements.
- Supports the evaluation of the enterprise transportation contracted provider in collaboration with procurement
- In conjunction with the quality department, review grievance for trends and develop action plans to address process improvement.
- Implement safety measures for onboarding new employees and periodic reviews.
- Is a resource for the enterprise transportation contracted maintenance provider
- Ensures the transportation resources (labor, vehicles and contracts) are right sized for the organization
- Oversees and directs the routing system in collaboration with regional transportation leadership
- Is a resource to IT and routing solution vendor to enhance the transportation experience through the use of technology
- Receive notification of employee injuries and accidents and follow up on driver injury reports including proper filing of work comp documents and drug screens with TR Managers
- Manages transportation component for de novo centers, including State Readiness Review, Transportation Policy in conjunction with Safety, and hiring and training of drivers and vehicle and driver licensure requirements
Supervision – 40%
- Effectively supervises and manages direct reports and provides, by example and leadership, motivation and direction to employees of the organization.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable state and federal employment laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; recognizing and rewarding employees; corrective disciplinary procedures and practices (under direction of supervisor and in partnership with Human Resources), addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Ensures annual employee performance reviews are conducted in a timely and effective manner. Evaluates performance of employees for compliance with established policies and objectives of the organization and contributions in attaining objectives.
- Helps set the tone of the department to ensure morale, team work, and that the positive employment culture of the organization is maintained.
- Regularly schedules leadership/management, department, and staff 1:1 meetings to provide leadership, development, and a forum for communication to ensure coordination and collaboration in meeting organization and individual goals.
REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in administration, management, transportation or a related field from an accredited college/university
- Requires state issued driver’s license and excellent driving record.
- Strong management skills.
- Minimum 10 years total related experience. Minimum five years in transportation management role with direct reports.
- Bi-lingual preferred
