Looma is a growing product design firm focused on developing new technologies in the life science industry. We help our clients with their most challenging problems by combining creative problem solving, first principles thinking, and hands on experience. We are a small team that is motivated by the idea of designing solutions upstairs and building those solutions downstairs to quickly realize our ideas and move products forward.
About the role.
Looma is looking to hire a talented, self-motivated, and creative mechanical engineer. This individual would be challenged to design products for clients in the life science industries. They would be immersed in the entire product development process bringing ideas to reality. This includes conceptual design on paper, transferring those ideas into CAD using Solidworks, and then working with the tools in our shop (4 axis cnc, injection molding machine, laser cutters, 3D printers, etc) to build and test functional prototypes. This job offers lots of opportunities to learn new skills and grow professionally. This is a full time position based out of our offices in Saco Maine.
Position Qualifications.
- B.S.M.E (M.S. a plus)
- 1-5+ years design experience.
- Technical project management experience.
- Broad technical background and the desire to learn.
- 3D CAD experience (Solidworks preferred).
- Experience with a wide range of manufacturing processes (injection molding, machining, sheet metal, casting, etc.).
- Experience designing biomedical products (familiarity with ISO 13485 and FDA design controls is a plus).
- Experience designing electromechanical systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
