PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful applicant will join ATR's Engineering Services Division, working as a Mechanical or Aerospace engineer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division, Indian Head, MD. You'll have an opportunity to work on world-class military programs that support the US Navy's Warfare technology as part of the Air Systems Branch. The applicant shall work with the Air Systems Engineering team as part of an integrated product team. This role primarily consists of providing production engineering support and in-service engineering support for Air System products, like rocket motors, rocket launchers, warheads, and fuses. The applicant shall identify, recommend, and assess the impact of engineering changes to production level Technical Data Packages (TDP). The applicant shall recommend improvements to the system to improve performance/manufacturability/cost. The applicant shall generate test plans for system qualification testing and First Article/Lot Acceptance testing (FAT/LAT). The applicant shall conduct root cause analysis to address anomalies encountered in production or in the field and identify/recommend solutions to address the issue. The applicant shall develop technical reports and briefings to present and document their recommendations and findings. The applicant shall witness key production, testing, and field operation activities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of engineering experience
- Experience with DoD Acquisition is a plus
SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to conduct technical assessments of engineering changes to capture the impacts to cost/performance of the system
- Ability to assess impact of deviations from production requirements (components manufactured not meeting certain requirements of the drawing/spec) and recommend path forward
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis to identify likely root causes of anomalies encountered during production testing or in-service.
- Ability to identify and recommend product improvements to improve the performance/cost of the system and mitigate risks.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing through generating technical reports, test plans, and briefings.
- Ability to understand and interpret production level drawings and specifications
- Ability to work well in a team environment and deliver briefings to program offices as needed
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation.
Current successful background investigation completion is a plus.
