About the RoleWe are a private, entrepreneurial commercial real estate family office with a diversified portfolio spanning retail, industrial, multifamily, and development assets. We are seeking a highly hands-on Chief Operating Officer to oversee day-to-day operations, drive execution across the portfolio, and translate ownership’s investment strategy into results.
The COO will serve as the principal operator, responsible for coordinating acquisitions, asset management, leasing, financing execution, legal/compliance workflows, and internal processes. This role works closely with ownership and external advisors and requires strong operational judgment in a fast-moving, deal-driven environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesPortfolio Operations & Asset Management
- Oversee daily operations across the real estate portfolio, including asset management, leasing execution, capital projects, and property performance.
- Implement and maintain systems, controls, and reporting to ensure operational discipline across multiple assets and entities.
Transaction & Deal Execution
- Coordinate acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects from diligence through closing.
- Manage third-party professionals (legal, financial, environmental, engineering) to ensure efficient deal execution.
Leasing Execution
- Oversee leasing activity across retail, office, industrial, and multifamily assets.
- Coordinate lease negotiations, renewals, amendments, tenant buyouts, and dispute resolution with brokers and outside counsel.
Financial & Capital Operations
- Support financing efforts, including refinancings, lender coordination, and loan compliance.
- Work closely with accounting and finance teams on budgets, cash flow tracking, capital expenditures, and reporting.
Legal, Risk & Compliance Coordination
- Act as the internal point person for legal and regulatory matters, managing outside counsel related to transactions, leasing, construction, and litigation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations including DOB, HPD, zoning, environmental, and local/state requirements.
Vendor, Team & Advisor Management
- Manage relationships with brokers, attorneys, contractors, property managers, and consultants.
- Build scalable operational workflows to support portfolio growth and changing asset mix.
Partnership with Ownership
- Work directly with ownership to execute strategic objectives and operational priorities.
- Provide clear reporting, proactive problem-solving, and execution-focused recommendations.
Qualifications- 8–12+ years of experience in commercial real estate operations, asset management, or principal-side investing.
- Experience operating within a family office, private real estate firm, or entrepreneurial real estate platform.
- Strong understanding of commercial real estate transactions, leasing, financing mechanics, and asset operations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple deals and properties simultaneously.
- Comfortable operating autonomously in a lean organization.
