Location: La Vergne, TN
Shift: Non-traditional schedule that includes weekend shift with flexibility needed as the workload demands
- Hours: 12:00pm – 8:00pm
- Work Days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday
- Days Off: Tuesday, Saturday
What You Will Do
- The Transportation Supervisor is the key operations link between the organization, drivers/owner operators, and customers. The primary responsibility is to lead and supervise driver associates to achieve superior customer service and KPI goals.
- This is a “hands-on” position that includes being responsible for handling loose freight, loading, unloading, sorting, staging, and transporting products into and out of a distribution center/warehouse onto and off of box trucks.
- Managing the box truck drivers' work out of the location, including client communication, systems management, and route completion.
- Manage safety and compliance around box truck operations
- Work as a backup driver for a non-DOT, 26-foot box truck
- Safely drive a commercial motor vehicle (Box Truck)
- Safely Operate a Lift Gate
- Daily execution of the operating plan, equipment utilization, safety, hours of service, and fuel efficiency
- Use and ensure that the TMS, TruckMate, and PeopleNet systems are updated accurately and promptly
- Primary on-site supervisor to solve customer service, equipment, driver, and warehouse issues
- Assists the Operations Manager with managing warehouse and transportation operations
- Administrative functions such as billing, invoicing, and driver pay
- Maintain compliance with all DOT and company safety regulations
Our ideal candidate will have……
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 3-5 years leading and supervising drivers in a truckload, LTL, or parcel environment preferred
- Ability to build credible relationships with drivers and lead in a dynamic, fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Ability to evaluate alternatives to make the best overall value decisions, considering cost, customer expectations, driver needs, and other factors
- Demonstrated analytical ability, attention to detail, and strong computer skills
- Ability to function in a high-stress environment and deal with a variety of issues in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Solid judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Proven record of taking initiative and responsibility, both individually and as a member of a team
- 12 months of experience driving a Box Truck within the last 3 years, or the ability to learn to drive a box truck
- Valid Driver's License
- Class A CDL or Class B License is optional
- 21 years of age or older
- Ability to pass a road test
- Ability to obtain a DOT medical card
- Ability to learn and become an accomplished user in transportation management and other systems
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in a professional manner
- Ability to load and unload freight at assigned locations
- Ability to maintain all DOT required documentation
- Ability to adhere to DOT Rules and Regulations
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs. and push/pull up to 50 lbs.
