Concrete Cutting Project Manager

Salary: $55,000-$75,000 Annually
Position Overview
The Concrete Cutting Project Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of Lakeside’s concrete cutting projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution. This position provides oversight to Assistant Project Managers and Concrete Cutting Foremen, ensuring crews are equipped, trained, and supported to complete projects on time and within budget. The Project Manager serves as the primary liaison between field operations, office leadership, and clients while promoting Lakeside’s values of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise and mentor Assistant Project Managers and Foremen, ensuring alignment with project goals, safety standards, and company policies.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to build leadership capability in the field.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor crew performance, safety compliance, and productivity.
- Support the hiring, onboarding, and training of field staff in collaboration with HR and the Safety Manager.
- Ensure consistent use of company systems for planning, documentation, and reporting.
Project Management
- Plan, schedule, and manage multiple projects simultaneously from initiation through completion.
- Oversee preparation of job scopes, budgets, and schedules; track progress and adjust as needed.
- Coordinate labor, materials, and equipment to ensure readiness and minimize downtime.
- Review and approve daily logs, timesheets, change orders, and cost-tracking reports submitted by Foremen and Assistant PMs.
- Lead weekly planning meetings with Foremen, Assistant PMs, and Operations leadership to align on project progress and next steps.
· Collect daily project reports from Assistant Project Managers and Foremen and submit summaries to senior management.
· Ensure daily use of company reporting software (e.g., CompanyCam, Fieldwire) and hold Foremen accountable for compliance.
Field Operations & Safety
- Ensure crews have the proper tools, equipment, and PPE for each job.
- Support Foremen in addressing site challenges, structural or utility concerns, and safe work practices.
- Provide guidance when project adjustments are needed to improve safety or efficiency.
- Partner with the Safety Manager to conduct inspections, enforce OSHA standards, and correct hazards immediately.
- Monitor shop/yard processes to ensure proper loading, unloading, and equipment maintenance.
Client & Contractor Relations
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, general contractors, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide clear and timely updates, address concerns, and resolve issues to maintain client satisfaction.
- Participate in pre-job planning and post-job evaluations to establish expectations and measure outcomes.
- Maintain professional relationships that encourage repeat business and strengthen Lakeside’s reputation.
Employee Development & Mentorship
- Oversee and review reports, planning, and documentation from Assistant PMs and Foremen.
- Mentor Assistant PMs, Foremen on leadership skills, communication, and accountability expectations.
- Conduct performance reviews and support succession planning for key field leadership roles.
- Promote a positive culture of recognition, accountability, and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing construction projects; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with proven ability to mentor and hold others accountable.
- Excellent communication, organizational, scheduling, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills for managing relationships with employees, clients, and contractors.
- Competence with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently across Maine.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds frequently; occasionally heavier with assistance or equipment.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching overhead or below shoulder level.
- Ability to climb ladders, work on scaffolds, lifts, and elevated platforms.
- Ability to safely navigate uneven terrain, excavation areas, and active construction sites.
- Frequent exposure to outdoor environments including heat, cold, rain, snow, and humidity.
- Ability to wear and properly use all required PPE, including respirators (must pass fit test).
- Sufficient vision, hearing, and stamina to perform duties safely and effectively.
Work Hours, Environment & Conditions
- Requires early morning start times, as early as 5:00 a.m., to provide leadership, ensure crews are prepared, and mobilize operations.
- Must remain accessible by phone outside of standard hours as operational needs arise; occasional weekend or extended hours may be required depending on project demands.
- Duties are performed in both office and field settings with frequent travel across Maine.
- Regular exposure to loud noise, dust, vibration, moving vehicles, heavy machinery, and hazardous materials, in compliance with company and OSHA safety protocols.
- Frequent exposure to year-round outdoor weather elements including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Work is performed in a fast-paced environment requiring adaptability, multitasking, and clear communication across teams.
