Job Summary
Metro Motor Towing is seeking an experienced and highly organized Director of Operations to lead and manage the day-to-day operations of our towing division. This senior leadership role oversees dispatch operations, contracts, personnel management, fleet maintenance, and overall operational performance.
The ideal candidate has strong towing industry experience, understands dispatch at a hands-on level, and has successfully managed large teams and fleets. While primarily office-based, this role requires deep operational knowledge of towing workflows and field operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Leadership
- Oversee daily towing operations across multiple contracts and service areas
- Manage and direct dispatch operations, including scheduling, routing, and performance oversight
- Serve as the escalation point for operational, staffing, and contract-related issues
- Ensure operational efficiency, compliance, and service-level execution
Dispatch & Contracts
- Maintain direct oversight of dispatchers and dispatch workflows
- Possess hands-on knowledge of dispatch responsibilities and step in as needed
- Manage towing contracts, service agreements, and performance expectations
- Coordinate with ownership and leadership on operational strategy
Fleet & Maintenance
- Oversee maintenance and readiness of 20+ tow trucks, including in-house maintenance coordination
- Ensure trucks remain compliant, road-ready, and properly scheduled for service
- Track fleet utilization, downtime, and preventative maintenance
People Management
- Lead and manage 25+ employees, including drivers, dispatchers, and support staff
- Oversee hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and discipline
- Promote safety, accountability, and professionalism across the organization
Reporting & Performance
- Monitor KPIs, productivity, fleet efficiency, and contract performance
- Identify gaps and implement process improvements
- Support budgeting, cost controls, and operational planning
Qualifications & Experience
- 3–5+ years of operational leadership experience in the towing industry (required)
- Proven experience managing dispatch operations
- Demonstrated experience managing 20+ employees
- Experience overseeing 20+ truck fleets
- Strong understanding of towing contracts and compliance requirements
- Experience coordinating in-house truck maintenance
- Strong leadership, organization, and decision-making skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment
