Plenitud is a 501c3 non-profit organization serving individuals and communities by sharing knowledge for a sustainable and harmonious life from our learning center Las Marias, PR. Plenitud has been a leader in offering environmental educational services to farmers, students, and others since 2010. We are working to meet increased demand for education in long-term solutions like the construction of emergency shelters, rainwater harvesting systems, school gardens, and agroecology. The ‘Small Scale Farm Administrative & Systems Developer’ VISTA will work to build the capacity in Plenitud PR’s agroecology program. The VISTA will be responsible for supporting in three key areas: analysis and development of the eco-small farm model to create educational tools to share with beginning farmers; supporting the development of community edible spaces & individual community member spaces in rural Las Marias; strengthening agriculture educational tools and curriculum for courses and development of systems for eco-tourism at Plenitud PR. Developing these areas is key to support food security and education locally where poverty and unemployment is high and throughout the island with beginning farmers looking to create a sustainable model. This position requires a creative and self-directed candidate with agriculture and farm infrastructure experience as well as good interpersonal skills. The individual should be comfortable working as part of a dynamic team on real grassroots-level service. They must be highly organized and comfortable with computers, spreadsheets, and web-based technology as well as working long hours outside in a tropical climate. Member Duties : Plenitud has been a leader in offering environmental educational services to farmers, students, & others since 2010. Additionally, the organization is quick to respond to natural disasters & public health crises with relief work, distributing supplies, groceries, and hot food to the local communities. In response to the current situation caused by Covid-19, Plenitud’s staff & volunteers are again busy implementing relief work and developing support systems for the community’s most vulnerable populations. The VISTA will work to build the capacity in Plenitud’s agroecology program.
