The Opportunity
We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead and scale the electrical engineering team responsible for the design, build, test, and certification of high-voltage electrical panels and systems controlling the operation of Halo's proprietary laser-based material-processing equipment. Your role will be central to the company's ability to scale, ensuring we can meet rising customer demand without compromising the quality and reliability of our engineering work.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing electrical engineering team
- Partner with leaders of Mechanical, Optical, Systems, and Software Engineering teams to determine the required functionality and performance standards for new electrical designs
- Translate architecture into development plans; assign mixed-signal, analog, digital, and FPGA design tasks
- Run circuit and system design reviews to ensure engineering rigor and design-for-safety principles
- Oversee electrical and electro-mechanical design work using tools such as Orcad, Allegro, Altium, GC Prevue, and AutoCAD Electrical
- Evaluate manufacturing platforms and I/O architectures; identify ways to improve system performance and reliability
- Select and integrate automation, sensing, and motion-control solutions; define control-system functionality
- Support prototype bring-up, debugging, and validation of control panels and systems
- Oversee installation and system-level testing for next-generation platforms, including advanced automation and motion control
- Define and verify safety systems for laser-based and integrated manufacturing equipment
- Ensure designs meet certification requirements and drive release to production
- Contribute hands-on design support when appropriate
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Systems, Electrical, or Computer Engineering (advanced degrees preferred)
- 8-10 years of experience in electrical or systems design for complex industrial or capital-equipment systems
- Experience in semiconductor fabrication, test equipment
- Experience managing engineering teams within a multidisciplinary environment
- Experience contributing to mixed-signal control system development, including taking at least one system through certification
- Experience building engineering teams and processes in a fast-growing environment while working with existing knowledge and infrastructure
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on expertise in analog, digital, and mixed-signal device, board, and system design
- Experience in laser-based systems is a plus
- Knowledge of hardware and software solutions used in modern manufacturing-equipment automation
- Strong understanding of systems and automation design cycles, including safety and certification requirements
- Experience collaborating with Mechanical, Optical, and Laser engineers on integrated systems (highly desired)
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety codes for electro-mechanical and optomechanical systems; experience with laser-based systems is highly desired
- Proficiency with electrical and electro-mechanical design tools such as Cadence Orcad, Allegro, Altium, GC Prevue, and AutoCAD Electrical

- Base Salary: $200,000 - $215,000
