Job description
This position involves performing a wide range of engineering tasks related to the design, modification, and certification of large transport category aircraft cabin interiors. Responsibilities include interpreting engineering drawings, developing and validating design solutions, and preparing substantiation reports to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements. The role requires close collaboration with design teams, certification authorities, and suppliers to ensure that all cabin modifications meet strict safety and performance standards.
By ensuring compliance with FAA crashworthiness and cabin safety requirements, this role directly impacts the likelihood of survival in emergency situations. Every design decision, from seat anchorage strength to interior paneling materials, contributes to creating a safer cabin environment where passengers have the greatest possible chance of surviving and evacuating after an accident.
Responsibility:
- Design and substantiate aircraft cabin interior. In support of aircraft interior modifications including, but not limited to, installation of seats, passenger service units, emergency equipment, galleys, lavatories, flooring, sidewall/ceiling panels, stowage bins and placards. Ensuring compliance with FAA critical regulations that protect passengers and crew through crashworthiness, fire safety, and rapid evacuation requirements.
- Ability to work independently to collect and analyze data, incorporating input into the development of new designs or modifications of existing configurations, while operating within general guidance on scope and parameters.
- Prepare cabin interior modification/installation/fabrication drawings, engineering reports and work instructions.
- Troubleshoot aircraft issues during modification prototype and post modification.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Proficient in AutoCAD/Inventor.
- Proactive attitude with strong problem‑solving skills
