Summary/Objective
The Fleet Manager is responsible for the overall strategy, optimization, maintenance, and compliance of the company's multi-location fleet of delivery vehicles (e.g., box trucks, vans, tractor-trailers) used in beverage distribution. This role ensures maximum operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and safety across all assigned locations while maintaining vehicle uptime to meet demanding delivery schedules.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Fleet Operations & Strategy
- Develop and implement fleet management strategies that support the company's logistical and distribution goals across all locations.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as vehicle utilization rate, fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, and accident rates.
- Implement and manage GPS/telematics systems for tracking vehicle location, and performance across the multi-location fleet.
- Optimize vehicle routing and scheduling in collaboration with operations and logistics teams to reduce mileage and labor costs.
Maintenance & Reliability
- Oversee and manage both in-house and third-party maintenance and repair operations across all sites to ensure vehicles are safe and compliant.
- Establish and enforce a rigorous Preventative Maintenance (PM) program schedule for the entire fleet, minimizing downtime and extending vehicle life.
- Control and manage the fleet maintenance budget, analyzing repair costs and identifying opportunities for cost reduction without compromising safety or quality.
- Manage inventory of parts and supplies for common repairs and manage vendor relationships for parts sourcing.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT (Department of Transportation), licensing, registration, and emission standards for all vehicles in all operating locations.
- Manage and maintain accurate vehicle records, including maintenance history, inspections, and repair documentation.
- Develop and administer a comprehensive shop fleet safety program to reduce accidents, including driver training protocols, post-accident investigation procedures, and risk management strategies.
Leadership & Administration
- Conduct site visits to facilities to audit fleet conditions, maintenance practices, and ensure procedural consistency.
- Prepare and present regular reports on fleet performance, budget variance, and strategic initiatives to senior management.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience in repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel-powered trucks required
- Minimum of 5 years' progressive experience in fleet management and/or vehicle maintenance
- Certification such as Certified Fleet Management Professional (CFMP) or similar preferred
- Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one
Additional Qualifications And Competencies
- Deep knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, and commercial vehicle safety standards.
- Proven ability to manage large, complex budgets and control costs effectively.
- Strong technical understanding of commercial vehicle mechanics (diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, refrigeration units).
- Proficiency in fleet management software, telematics systems (e.g., GPS tracking), and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
Work Environment
This position requires the ability to work in a garage environment, which may include exposure to noise, heat, cold, dust and chemicals.

Travel
As Clark Beverage Group, Inc. represents multiple geographic locations within its territory, some travel will be required.
