nformation Technology Specialist (Part-Time) to support with the City’s computer systems, desktop environments, and network infrastructure.
The ideal candidate should possess practical experience with desktop systems, network technologies, and technical troubleshooting, along with the ability to provide clear and responsive support to City staff. This position will work 20-30 hours/week.

About The Division
Information Technology (I.T.) is a division within the Finance Department. Our mission is to provide excellent customer service in supporting all of the information technology needs of the City. In addition to providing day-to-day technical support for every City department, I.T. also manages the City’s telecommunications system, included are the VoIP network, cellular phones, and voice-mail system.
About The Position
Under general direction of the I.T. Systems Support Manager, this position performs various technical and administrative duties, including managing software subscriptions, renewals, backups, and desktop imaging. This position also assists in enhancing computer systems, desktop computers, networking equipment, software applications, and telecommunications systems. Other related duties are performed as assigned.

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following):
- Prepare and maintain operation manuals, procedures, and training manuals
- Maintain citywide backup systems, including verification and reporting
- Maintain citywide end-user desktop patch management
- Maintain computer helpdesk ticketing system
- Maintain citywide emergency desktop environment readiness
- Maintain email filtering software
- Maintain citywide security camera environment
- Assist with inventory control of all technology equipment, including mobile and telecommunication devices
- Provide first-level computer hardware and software technical support as needed
- Provide administrative support in preparing budgets, processing invoices, and other related duties
Knowledge Of
- Applications and functions of personal computer hardware and peripheral devices
- Microsoft (MS) software products, proficiently
- Formal documentation practices and standards
- Technical concepts related to operating, installing, maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting a variety of computer equipment and peripherals
Skill And Ability To
- Establish and maintain a computer maintenance schedule
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Exercise judgment to identify and resolve problems effectively and efficiently
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality while working with privileged, sensitive, and confidential information

Education/Training/Experience
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems (MIS), or a closely related field;
OR a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in information technology operations and maintenance
License Requirements
Maintain and possess a valid Class C California driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and evidence of insurance are required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Standard office environment with continual exposure to computer screens. Essential and secondary functions require maintaining physical condition for light lifting carrying; sitting for prolonged periods of time.
