One of our major apparel clients is currently seeking a Logistics Coordinator to join their team. They are located in Midtown NYC.
Role is IN OFFICE 5 days a week and pays $33-38/hr depending on experience.
They mainly work with China so they are looking for someone who can track inbound material shipments, who is comfortable with EDI and 3PL.
They are currently merging with another company which is why the role is starting as freelance but if it's a good fit there's the opportunity of the role going full time.
They ideally would love someone with Big Box retailer experience as well as good organization skills and excel.
They currently do not have an ERP but someone with experience in ERP is welcome as well.

About the Role
The Logistics Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate flow of inbound shipments from overseas apparel factories to our U.S. distribution network. This position oversees shipment visibility, documentation accuracy, and communication between global vendors, freight forwarders, 3PL partners, and internal teams. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in EDI transactions, international logistics, and retail compliance—especially with major big-box retailers.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and track all inbound shipments from overseas factories, ensuring on-time departure, transit, and delivery milestones.
- Coordinate with international suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and 3PL warehouses to maintain shipment accuracy and resolve exceptions.
- Manage and process EDI transactions (e.g., 850/856/810 or retailer-specific requirements) to ensure timely and compliant data flow.
- Maintain accurate shipment records, including commercial invoices, packing lists, HTS classifications, and other import documentation.
- Communicate shipment delays, risks, and status updates to internal teams, including Production, Planning, and Sales.
- Ensure compliance with big-box retailer routing guides, shipping standards, labeling requirements, and vendor compliance programs.
- Support inbound scheduling, ASN creation, delivery appointments, and 3PL coordination for receiving and putaway.
- Collaborate with the Finance team to support freight invoice approvals, landed-cost accuracy, and month-end reporting.
- Analyze logistics performance metrics and assist with process improvements to optimize lead times and reduce costs.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or import operations; apparel industry experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of international freight (ocean/air), customs processes, and import compliance.
- Hands-on experience working with EDI transactions and retailer compliance systems.
- Experience working with or managing 3PL distribution partners.
- Prior exposure to big-box retailer requirements (e.g., Walmart, Target, Costco, Kohl’s, etc.) is a major plus.
- Proficient in ERP, TMS, or logistics platforms; strong Excel and data-management skills.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
