Job Overview
The United States Coast Guard Northeast Area requires facility support services to be performed at US Coast Guard Station in Provincetown, MA and is seeking the ideal candidate to fill the role of Station Keeper/General Maintenance Worker to augment active duty, reserve, and auxiliarist personnel to support day to day requirements for the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of the station.
General Maintenance and Upkeep Services – including HVAC filter changes, monthly fire extinguisher inspections, minor patching/painting, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, ceiling tile inspection and replacement, minor electrical such as changing receptacles, wires, and switching, light bulb replacement, repairing or replacing sinks and toilets, material handling/moving, minor assembly, installation or repair, general labor and the like.
General Responsibilities included but not limited too:
General Maintenance Worker– (Station Keeper)
- Janitorial Services – including sweeping, mopping, dusting, refuse/recycling sorting/removal, restroom cleaning and the like.
- Laundry Services – including, washing, drying folding and sorting soiled and clean linens.
- Landscaping Services – including mowing, weeding, edging, mulching, pruning, debris clean-up and the like.
- Snow Removal Services – including use of small snow blowers, power sweepers, shovels, spreading of ice melt and the like.
- Contingency Response Services – including water removal and cleanup, selective demolition and disposal, general non-technical disaster clean-up and the like.
- Galley Support Services – including dishwashing, deep cleaning, grease removal, handling of bulk stores and the like.
- Access Control Services – including ID checks, alarm monitoring and the like.
Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in general maintenance is preferred.
- Candidates with maintenance experience working in a hospital, school, apartment building or warehouse environment are preferred but not mandatory.
- Must be able to take direction and be comfortable working in a military environment.
- Must be able to maintain a clean, neat appearance per USCG policy.
- Knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose maintenance issues.
- Must be physically fit and able to perform laborious tasks.
- Must be able to operate various equipment to perform tasks including but not limited to; landscaping, snow removal, laundry, dishwashing, and any other tools necessary to perform job function.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
