The Information Technology department at Acadian Ambulance has full-time openings for the Dispatch Systems Administrator position.
The Dispatch Systems Administrator manages and maintains the hardware, network, servers, and infrastructure supporting the CAD system, ensuring reliability and performance. Work with stakeholders to design, implement, and troubleshoot systems while supporting the legacy CAD system for up to 48 months and backing up Logis IDS CAD administrators. Ideal for a self-starter with strong technical skills and a passion for technology.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain servers, storage, networking, and virtualization environments that support the CAD system.
- Ensure the infrastructure is configured, optimized, and maintained according to best practices for performance and security.
- Monitor system health, identify issues, and resolve infrastructure-related incidents promptly.
- Manage disaster recovery and backup processes for all critical Dispatch systems components.
- Perform regular patches, updates, and upgrades to hardware and software systems.
- Design and implement security policies and procedures to safeguard the Dispatch systems.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure documentation, including architecture diagrams, processes, and workflows.
- Manage and monitor virtual machines, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
- Coordinate with vendors, stakeholders, and IT teams for system upgrades, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with application administrators and IT staff to ensure seamless integration and functionality of the CAD software with the infrastructure.
- Provide training and support to internal staff as needed regarding Dispatch systems-related operations.
- Plan and execute infrastructure projects, such as hardware replacements, network upgrades, or virtualization initiatives.
- Conduct capacity planning to ensure infrastructure scalability for future business needs.
- Lead efforts to transition from legacy systems to modern infrastructure solutions, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- Strong technical aptitude and a demonstrated interest in technology.
- Proven ability to self-educate and adapt to new tools, technologies, and processes.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn server administration, virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and network management.
- An understanding of or interest in Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
- Enthusiasm for building and maintaining secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure systems.
- Local position with some remote/hybrid ability, occasional travel
- Current/valid state-issued driver’s license determined by appropriate state requirements required.
- Must possess excellent customer relations skills.
- Possess organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and be able to work independently and with a team.
- Must be self-motivated and disciplined.
Training Requirements

Initial salary increases are tied to these certifications, with a minimum four-month gap between each raise to ensure fairness and foster steady career growth. The selected candidate will be excluded from annual cost-of-living adjustments until the successful completion of the following certifications.
