Director of Information Technology
Position Overview: The Director of IT is responsible for all corporate IT, including implementation of all hardware, infrastructure, software, security, and development of all policies and procedures. The IT Manager shall be active in the day-to-day operations and support services for the IT function, including but not limited to the following, supervising internal and all external resources, responsibility for all networks (appliances and devices), servers, workstations, various software used for multiple lines of business (including 24/7 hotel businesses), training of support staff, and the research of related IT trends, products, and services for companywide productivity enhancements and initiatives.
Experience and attributes.
8+ years of applicable IT leadership experience required. Experience must include overseeing a multisite operation with a complex network, numerous workstations, IT security, and supervision of an IT team. Individuals should have strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to be a team player and leader.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the business to establish IT standards and procedures that will support the implementation of strategies required by the business.
- Work closely with Senior Management to identify business needs and provide options in pragmatic technology solutions based on costs/benefits analysis and ROI measures.
- Collaborate closely with operations leaders to analyze business and project requirements to effectively design/customize technology systems and platforms to improve all aspects of business.
- Be proactive in monitoring changes or advancements in technology to discover and introduce ways the company can gain competitive advantage.
- Build an IT support team that sees themselves as a customer service group to the end users in the organization. o Provide thorough and proper training to technicians and implement best-practice standards for support team that will enable outstanding user support.
- Ensure that help desk priorities are communicated and understood, allowing issues to be resolved with the proper sense of urgency and that important deadlines are met.
- Analyze existing IT systems/functions and streamline processes. Create and execute any strategies supporting IT technology from systems/infrastructure, hardware, data center/server management, disaster recovery, virtualization, mobile applications, firewall/cybersecurity, to ERP/apps, voice/phone, and any topics related to Information Technology. o Ensure that the company’s risk to cyber-attack is mitigated through preventive and enhanced security measures and implementation of proper adherence standards.
- Identify single points of failure in the network and investigate cost-effective failover solutions to avoid or mitigate system outages.
- Maintain all necessary software and ensure that the most current versions are in use, and also ensure employees are adequately trained to utilize implemented software in a correct and efficient manner.
- Set objectives and strategies for the IT department. Allocate resources to manage, procure and maintain technology-focused systems to include server administration, networking/communications, LAN/WAN, Exchange, Virtual Technology, end users’ equipment, Cloud Technology initiatives, etc.
- Be the face of IT to business department managers and executive level management to understand user needs and make continuous improvements to tweak and hone systems efficiencies and deliver other viable IT business solutions.
- Create, implement, and maintain IT policies and procedures and set up an IT Governance method of approach.
- Work with IT vendors as necessary to identify need for upgrades, configurations, and/or new systems, as warranted. Be responsible for all facility and infrastructure projects including new construction and remodels as well as systems integrations. Lead project management efforts with staff and/or IT vendors/contractors to ensure timely delivery of service. o Research and compare market IT services and equipment providers, keeping abreast of measures to negotiate stronger vendor contract agreements to enhance services obtained or reduce costs incurred for company.
- Responsible for budgetary allocations of all IT functions for organization, including capital budgeting, operational budgets, special projects, etc. o Keep abreast of and research market IT services and equipment providers to negotiate stronger vendor contract agreements to enhance services obtained or reduce costs incurred for company.
- Hire, train, and manage the performance of all IT personnel across the organization.
- Plan and develop short- and long-term goals for the it team and assign timeframe and accountability for such goals.
- Maintain an enthusiastic attitude to build positive overall employee morale.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business, or related field.
- 8+ years of IT leadership roles in a corporate HQ environment supporting multiple remote locations.
- Deep understanding of all areas of IT and how systems, infrastructure as well as ERP/CRM and applications work within multiple location. Plan/execute IT initiatives to support projected growth, new acquisitions as well as navigate IT through fluctuations of business climate.
- Previous experience in leading successful systems and process upgrades to centralize IT functions and services as available and as warranted, unifying disparate and independently functioning systems.
- Must have a track record of success in producing positive results as a business-focused IT leader. Skilled in IT P&L management, involvement with M&A transactions and/or growth opportunities, impacting business and company growth.
- Progressive and stable career history originating from a support role, systems/networking administration, infrastructure, data storage systems, or software-focused responsibilities, and progressive IT leadership experience.
- Desire to take the initiative, seeking out and implementing best practices for the organization, and always fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Experienced in successful and scalable systems/IT integrations and must be able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Outgoing and positive personality with a leadership style that exemplifies the company vision and values.
