We are seeking a Technical Project Manager – Embedded Systems for our defense and aerospace client in Huntsville AL. This is an ‘onsite’ position only.
- Supports the Program Manager
- Technical scope and requirements management
- Technical execution of assigned project(s)
- Technical schedule development, execution, reporting, and baseline management
- Technical risk management
- Experienced and comfortable leading a cross-functional project team (embedded SW & HW) - note: Enterprise Software Application Development will be considered
- Knowledge of ITAR (e.g. U.S. laws that control the export and temporary import of defense-related articles and services to protect national security and foreign policy interests) is a strong plus
- Strong communication & leadership skills
- PMP certification is a plus
- Lead end-to-end project management activities for enterprise software development and deployment initiatives, ensuring adherence to project management methodologies such as PMBOK and SDLC.
- Develop detailed project plans utilizing tools like Microsoft Project, Visio, SharePoint, and project management software such as VersionOne, Jira, TFS, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
- Coordinate with technical teams to establish project schedules, resource allocations, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Oversee the development of test cases and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate software functionality against business needs.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource constraints through effective time management and project scheduling techniques.
- Monitor project progress through metrics such as KPIs; report status updates regularly to executive leadership.
- Ensure compliance with IT governance policies related to disaster recovery, IT infrastructure security, cloud computing standards (including AWS), and data integrity.
- Foster collaboration among cross-functional teams by promoting Agile practices such as Kanban and Scrum frameworks.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing project outcomes and implementing lessons learned.
- Engage in negotiation with vendors and stakeholders to secure resources or resolve conflicts efficiently.
- Support disaster recovery planning and IT infrastructure enhancements aligned with organizational goals.
Experience
- Strong familiarity with SDLC processes, requirements gathering techniques, test-driven development (TDD), user acceptance testing (UAT), and release management practices.
- Proficiency in project management tools including Microsoft Project, Visio, SharePoint, Jira, TFS, VersionOne, and Microsoft Office applications (Word & Excel).
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams across multiple departments while maintaining organizational efficiency.
- Knowledge of IT governance standards related to disaster recovery planning and IT security protocols.
- Excellent communication skills capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to negotiate effectively and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
