Position Overview:
Jefferson Lines is looking for a Fleet Manager to effectively manage the operational performance and strategic planning of Jefferson Lines’ fleet department. This role focuses on project management, departmental systems, cross-functional coordination, and process improvements across our fleet of more than 150 revenue vehicles. The Fleet Manager ensures that teams are aligned, resources are optimized, and key initiatives are delivered on time and within budget to support the company’s mission of safe and efficient transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage projects related to fleet operations, capital planning, and process improvements.
- Oversee department budgeting, forecasting, and expense tracking to ensure financial alignment with company goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams—including operations, maintenance, purchasing, and safety—to ensure alignment and efficient execution of fleet-related initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze fleet performance metrics, identifying opportunities for cost savings, efficiency gains, and reliability improvements.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to promote consistency, accountability, and compliance.
- Support leadership in long-term fleet strategy, including vehicle replacement planning, vendor partnerships, and technology adoption.
- Coordinate timelines, deliverables, and communication across teams to ensure projects stay on track and within scope.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership summarizing performance data, project outcomes, and recommendations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen safety, reliability, and operational efficiency across the fleet.
Qualifications:
- Strong work ethic with a positive attitude.
- Respectful and ability to communicate with various internal and external stakeholder groups.
- Reliable to meet deadlines and achieve desired outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Transportation, or a related field required, Master’s preferred.
- Experience in transportation, logistics, or operations management, ideally within a fleet-based or multi-location organization.
- Understanding of vehicle maintenance processes, systems, and concepts.
- Ability to work collaboratively across functional units and align multiple teams around a shared goal.
- Strong financial and analytical skills with experience managing budgets and evaluating cost efficiencies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools; experience with fleet or asset management software a plus.
Preferred:
- Experience in the passenger transportation, transit, or logistics industry.
- Background in project management (PMP or similar certification beneficial).
- Familiarity with DOT compliance or fleet lifecycle planning.
