About CRISALIS
Founded in 2010, CRISALIS, LLC (Custom Research Integration Systems and Logistically Integrated Solutions) transforms how researchers collaborate through custom research database applications. Inspired by the Greek word "chrysalis," our name reflects our mission—creating innovative IT solutions that drive medical discoveries.
We specialize in electronic data collection (EDC) systems designed for clinical trials, research institutions, government agencies, and non-profits. Our secure, compliant, and customizable platforms ensure data accuracy, regulatory compliance, and streamlined workflows, empowering researchers to focus on breakthroughs that matter.
About The Role
As a Chief Technology Officer, you will be the architect behind our technology strategy, driving innovation and ensuring technical foundation scales with our ambitions. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll lead our engineering team, shaping the future of our platform, infrastructure, and digital capabilities.
Our team is built with the understanding that each person affects the work environment's morale, creativity, support, and contributions. We want someone who can set the example and be approachable. Be a leader and not just a boss.
As CRISALIS is a small-sized company, your approach will be very hands-on. You will be directly involved in the setup and maintenance of our cloud environment, as well as assisting web developers and test analysts. Additionally, you will have to navigate security and compliance in the clinical research space, requiring you to creatively deliver agile solutions for clinical data collection while maintaining a rigorous monitoring of data governance and an effective IT security posture.
This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, a passion for solving complex problems, and a track record of leading technical teams through rapid growth and transformation. We are setup as a Microsoft shop using Azure as a cloud environment and O365 tools.
Although this is a 100% remote position, we are limiting the work location to anywhere within driving distance from Vancouver, Washington, to accommodate an occasional in-person executive meeting.

- Participate in client audits to explain and demonstrate our current processes.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain talent. Monitor performance of the development, testing, and IT teams using high-level KPIs, and promote cross-functional collaboration.
- Lead the technical teams in case of emergencies (outages, etc.).
Education and Training
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Bonus: Domain knowledge in the clinical trials.

- Deep knowledge of cloud platforms and DevOps practices (preferably Microsoft Azure)
- Experience with APIs, CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with lean startup principles, agile methodologies, and rapid prototyping
- Experience hiring, and mentoring engineering teams in fast-paced environments.
