Garage Door Installation Contractor (1099)

About the Work
We are looking for an experienced Garage Door Installation Contractor to handle residential and light commercial garage door installs and repairs. You’ll work independently in the field, using your own tools and experience to complete high-quality work for homeowners and property managers.
If you have a background in carpentry, remodeling, mechanical assembly, or overhead door work, this is a strong fit.
Responsibilities
- Install new garage doors, tracks, springs, hardware, and openers
- Remove and replace existing doors and components
- Perform repairs (springs, cables, rollers, hinges, panels, etc.)
- Read and follow installation instructions and technical diagrams
- Make minor framing/trim adjustments when needed for proper fit
- Install weather seals and ensure smooth, safe door operation
- Communicate clearly with customers about work performed and maintenance tips
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
Requirements
- Experience in garage door installation or related construction trades
- Strong mechanical skills and problem-solving ability
- Must provide your own tools, equipment, and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift and maneuver doors/materials safely
- Ability to work independently and meet job deadlines
- Professional presentation and customer communication
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience with torsion spring systems
- Basic electrical knowledge for opener wiring
- Trim carpentry or framing experience
Compensation
This is a 1099 subcontractor role.
Payment is based on:
- Door size/type
- Installation complexity
- Repair type and parts replaced
Rates are discussed and agreed upon before work is assigned.
