Job Overview:
The Lead Fire & Contents Restoration Technician is a working field lead responsible for executing fire and smoke mitigation with a primary focus on contents cleaning, inventory, and deodorization. Reporting to the Project and Production Managers, you will actively participate in field work while motivating technicians, managing subcontractors, and ensuring strict compliance with IICRC S700 standards. You will oversee detailed digital inventory tracking, ensure safety protocols are followed, and maintain clear communication with customers and adjusters throughout the restoration process.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and lead soot removal, detailed surface cleaning, selective demolition, and specialized deodorization (thermal fogging, hydroxyl, ozone) using proper Smoke Restoration Management (SRM) principles.
- Oversee the packing, labeling, transport, cleaning, and storage of affected items; utilize iCAT proficiently to maintain flawless digital inventories, photos, and chain of custody records.
- Delegate daily tasks to field technicians, monitor job site efficiency, and ensure work orders are completed within established timeframes.
- Ensure service trucks are clean, organized, and fully stocked with proper tools, chemicals, and PPE before departing for job sites within 30 minutes of the morning huddle.
- Professionally explain restoration processes to clients and adjusters; assist with project documentation using company systems like Restore, iCAT, Outlook, XactAnalysis, Xactimate, and MICA.
- Enforce proper cleaning procedures, cross-contamination prevention, and strict PPE usage (including respiratory protection) in compliance with company and IICRC guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge of IICRC S700 (Fire & Smoke Damage) and IICRC S500 (Water Damage) standards.
- Proven proficiency using iCAT for contents inventory management; experience with Restore, Xactimate, or MICA is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a field-based restoration role.
- Strong professional communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and wear required PPE for extended periods.
- Ability to work in unconditioned, smoke-damaged environments.
- Must possess a personal cellphone for work-related apps and communication.
- Flexibility to participate in an after-hours on-call rotation, with availability for early starts or extended workdays.
Hourly wage will coincide with experience.
