Project Manager / Structural Steel Estimator

Position Overview
We’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented Project Manager / Structural Steel Estimator to join our team. In this dual-role position, you’ll be responsible for developing accurate cost estimates for structural steel projects while managing awarded projects from kickoff through closeout. You’ll work closely with our shop, field crews, engineers, and clients to keep everything running smoothly.
Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating
- Review and interpret structural drawings, specs, and RFPs to prepare detailed material and labor estimates
- Perform quantity takeoffs for structural steel, connection materials, and miscellaneous metals
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Prepare and submit competitive bids in a timely manner
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of material pricing and market conditions
Project Management
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously from contract award through final delivery
- Coordinate with engineers, detailers, fabrication shop, and field erectors to ensure project milestones are met
- Track project budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, general contractors, and other stakeholders
- Identify and mitigate project risks proactively
- Ensure compliance with contract documents, safety standards, and quality requirements
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of experience in structural steel estimating and/or project management
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, AISC standards, and construction sequencing
- Proficiency with Tekla, Procore, and Bluebeam preferred
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with AWS D1.1 welding standards and steel erection practices is a plus
- Along with working knowledge of AISC standards.
Education
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or a related field preferred — equivalent work experience will be considered
