Position: Emergency Preparedness Coordinator
Location: Christ Medical Center; Oak Lawn, IL.
Full Time; 1st Shift
~Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works closely with RHCC Region’s Hospitals, local municipalities, and community response partners to enhance preparedness.
- Coordinates efforts to enhance/expand communication and emergency response capabilities between hospitals, medical control authorities, emergency medical services, and other healthcare providers, local/state law enforcement agencies.
- Lead the RHCC Region’s Hospitals/Coalition in meeting the required grant deliverables for the current ASPR HPP grant cycle.
- Participates in the planning, organization, evaluation and conducting of regional response drills/exercises that test the use of equipment, communications, personnel, and the emergency preparedness responses.
- Coordinates/Attends meetings related to emergency preparedness at site, county, regional, state, and national disaster response planning.
- Maintains inventory control of emergency preparedness supplies and utilization for the RHCC Region.
- Coordinating the hospital’s Emergency Management Program.
- Serves as a mentor for professional growth and development of teammates.
- Works as the Liaison when the hospital activates an Incident Management Team/Emergency Operations Center.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- None required upon hire.
- Registered Nurse or National Healthcare Disaster (NHDP-BC) Certification Preferred.
- CPR Certified
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing and/or Emergency Management or equivalent.
Experience Required:
- 10 years clinical/field ED/EMS/EP leadership experience and understanding of emergency preparedness processes.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Basic computer skills. Self-starter, good organizational skills with an attention to details and follow through, reports writing capability. Demonstrates ability to work unsupervised.
- Successfully completes the FEMA IS 100, 200, 700, 800 prior to hire preferred. Successfully completes the FEMA IS 100, 200, 700 and 800 courses within a 6-month period of hire date.
- Successfully completes the FEMA IS 300, 400 within an 18-month period of hire date.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be able to travel to for classes and meetings
- Must be flexible to attend day, afternoon, and evening meetings/ classes
- May be exposed to hazardous materials and life threatening diseases
- Must be able to prepare and lecture on assigned topics * Job may require emergency call-in situations available to work varied work schedule 24/7/365 in period of public health emergency.
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to lift >50 lbs. of equipment
