The Tribal Emergency Services Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing an emergency preparedness and disaster response plan for Berry Creek Rancheria. This role focuses on strengthening the community’s ability to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and emergencies, including natural disasters, pandemics, and other crises. The Tribal Emergency Services Manager will coordinate emergency planning efforts, ensure efficient disaster response operations, and lead long-term recovery initiatives. This position requires collaboration with tribal leadership, local, state, and federal agencies, and community stakeholders to protect the health, safety, and well-being of the tribal community.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Tribal Emergency Operations Plan (TEOP) for disaster response, recovery, and mitigation.
- Identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities specific to the tribal community, including natural disasters, pandemics, and man-made emergencies.
- Ensure the emergency plan aligns with tribal, local, state, and federal emergency management guidelines.
- Establish and maintain emergency response protocols, evacuation plans, and resource distribution strategies.
- Work closely with emergency management agencies such as FEMA, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), the American Red Cross, and state emergency services.
- Organize emergency preparedness training, workshops, and drills for tribal members, staff, and first responders.
- Establish partnerships with local healthcare providers, law enforcement, and fire departments to ensure coordinated emergency response efforts.
- Develop public education materials and outreach programs to promote community preparedness. Lead disaster response operations, ensuring timely and effective relief efforts.
- Coordinate emergency communications and serve as the primary point of contact for disaster response teams.
- Secure emergency funding and resources by applying for federal and state grants.
- Assess damage and coordinate relief services, including temporary housing, medical aid, and food distribution.
- Oversee the rebuilding and long-term recovery efforts to restore community infrastructure.
- Maintain compliance with tribal, state, and federal emergency management regulations.
- Prepare and submit reports on emergency preparedness efforts, response activities, and funding allocations.
- Track and document incidents, response measures, and recovery progress for future planning and improvement.
