Ocean Import Operator – In-Office | Itasca, IL
A top 25 global freight forwarder is seeking an experienced Ocean Import Operator to join its team in Itasca, Illinois. This is a full-time, in-office opportunity with a well-established international logistics organization offering long-term career growth and a collaborative work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full A–Z ocean import operations from booking through final delivery
- Coordinate with overseas offices, carriers, customs brokers, truckers, and customers
- Prepare and process import documentation accurately and timely
- Track and monitor shipments to ensure smooth transportation flow
- Handle customer communication, shipment updates, and issue resolution
- Coordinate customs clearance and delivery scheduling
- Manage billing, invoicing, and file closing procedures
- Ensure compliance with import regulations and company SOPs
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of ocean import experience within freight forwarding or logistics
- Strong understanding of full-cycle ocean import operations
- Experience using CargoWise is required
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced office environment
- Detail-oriented with strong customer service skills
Compensation & Benefits
- $55,000 – $65,000 annual salary, depending on experience
