About the Role
We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and operate highly scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure supporting 1,000,000+ connected IoT devices. This hybrid role is based in Orange County, CA and works closely with local engineering leadership and distributed teams. The position is critical to ensuring our platform can scale reliably as device volume, data ingestion, and customer usage grow rapidly in a B2B IoT environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain AWS infrastructure capable of supporting 1M+ connected IoT devices Architect high-availability, fault-tolerant systems for device connectivity and data ingestion Manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK) Optimize systems for performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana) Support and improve CI/CD pipelines for cloud services and deployments Collaborate with firmware, backend, QA, and product teams onsite
- Plan scaling strategies, capacity planning, load testing, and disaster recovery Troubleshoot production issues and participate in on-call rotation
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS/DynamoDB, Lambda, ECS/EKS)
- Experience designing systems that scale to hundreds of thousands or millions of devices/users Strong Linux, networking, and cloud security fundamentals
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
- Understanding of distributed systems and scalable architectures
- Experience supporting production environments with monitoring and incident response Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- AWS IoT Core and MQTT experience
- Event-driven architecture (SQS, SNS, Kinesis, EventBridge)
- Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS)
- B2B SaaS or connected-device platform experience
- Cost optimization for high-volume AWS environments
- Familiarity with SOC 2 or ISO 27001 compliance
Pay: $135,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
