The Windows Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and reliability of the company’s IT infrastructure. This role supports on‑premises, virtualized, and cloud environments, with a strong focus on Windows and Linux servers, VMware, Microsoft 365, Azure, endpoint security (EDR), firewalls and Applications.
The Windows Systems Administrator plays a key role in maintaining system availability, enforcing security best practices, supporting business operations, and responding to incidents across the enterprise environment.
Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and support Windows Server and Linux Server environments
- Manage and support virtual infrastructure (VMware)
- Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Support and manage Microsoft Azure resources, including identity, computer, networking, and security components
- Monitor and respond to alerts from Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platforms
- Support and maintain firewalls, network security controls, and access policies
- Perform system monitoring, patching, backups, and recovery operations
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and security‑related issues
- Assist with security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and incident response
- Develop and maintain system documentation, procedures, and configuration records
- Create and maintain scripts and automation (PowerShell, Bash, etc.) to improve operational efficiency
- Collaborate with internal teams to implement system changes and resolve issues
- Ensure systems comply with company security standards and best practices
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration, IT infrastructure, or a related role
- Experience supporting enterprise‑level environments with mixed on‑premises and cloud systems
Job Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong experience with Windows Server and Linux Server administration
- Working knowledge of VMware virtualization
- Hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 administration
- Experience supporting Microsoft Azure environments
- Solid understanding of IT security principles, including:
- Endpoint protection / EDR
- Firewalls and network security
- Identity and access management
- Patch and vulnerability management
- Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to document systems and processes clearly
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Positive work attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel if required
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company appropriately
Certifications:
- CCNA or CompTIA Security+ – Preferred (not required)
- Microsoft, Azure, VMware, or Linux certifications are a plus
Education:
- Associate’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field required, or equivalent professional experience
Annual salary range starting at $90,000.
