Mechanical Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems and automation solutions for manufacturing applications. The successful candidate will work across product development, prototyping, and production support to deliver reliable, manufacturable equipment and robotic cell integrations. This role requires strong mechanical design skills, hands-on experience with SolidWorks and CNC principles, and familiarity with automation and SAP-based production workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed mechanical designs and 3D models using SolidWorks, including assemblies, part files, and manufacturing drawings.
- Design, specify, and commission automation systems and robotic cells, collaborating with controls engineers and integrators to ensure seamless integration.
- Support CNC machining processes by providing manufacturable designs, creating tooling and fixture concepts, and reviewing program setups with machinists.
- Lead prototyping, build, and test activities; troubleshoot mechanical and automation issues through root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering change orders, and related documentation in SAP to support production and service activities.
- Perform DFMEA/DRBFM and design reviews to ensure robustness, reliability, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, procurement, and project management to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
- Provide technical support to production and field service teams, including installation oversight, commissioning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design for manufacturing, automation, or industrial equipment.
- Proficient in SolidWorks with a strong portfolio of 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
- Experience with CNC machining processes, tooling design, and manufacturing best practices.
- Practical experience designing or integrating robotic cells and automation equipment.
- Familiarity with SAP for BOM management, change control, and production support.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including experience with root-cause analysis and design-for-manufacturability.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to interact effectively across engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Willingness to participate in hands-on prototyping, shop floor support, and occasional travel to supplier or customer sites.
