Director of IT Operations | New York, NY | Investment Banking | Full-Time
THE OPPORTUNITY
We're looking for a seasoned IT Operations leader who thrives in complex, fast-moving environments and takes real ownership of the technology that powers a high-performing investment banking firm. This is a seat-at-the-table role — you'll shape infrastructure strategy, lead a talented team, and be the person others count on when it matters most.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
• End-to-end infrastructure operations — servers, networks, storage, security, backup, virtualization, and every critical system in between.
• Cloud strategy & execution — driving adoption and governance across Azure, AWS, or GCP, with a focus on security, compliance, and performance.
• Operational excellence — building and evolving the standards, processes, and policies that keep the firm running at peak efficiency.
• Monitoring & insights — owning the tools (Splunk, Datadog, LogicMonitor, Grafana) and the analytics that power continuous improvement.
• Crisis & DR leadership — taking command during outages and disaster recovery events with calm, decisive action.
• Team development — mentoring a team of IT professionals, setting clear expectations, and fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
• Vendor & stakeholder relationships — keeping third-party partners accountable and collaborating closely with firm leadership across the business.
WHAT YOU BRING
• 5+ years of hands-on IT Operations leadership in a complex technical environment — financial services experience is a strong plus.
• Deep expertise across infrastructure — servers, networks, storage, virtualization, security, and cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• Proven command of ITSM/ITIL methodologies and ITOM tools — you don't just know the frameworks, you implement them.
• Experience with modern monitoring and observability stacks — Splunk, Datadog, Grafana, ELK, or LogicMonitor.
• Strong leadership presence — you communicate clearly at every level, build trust under pressure, and bring out the best in your team.
• A track record of owning DR and crisis response — and a reputation for steady, effective leadership when things go sideways.
• 4-year college degree preferred.
WHY THIS ROLE
• High visibility — you'll interact directly with firm leadership and have real influence over technology direction.
• Complex, interesting work — no two days look the same in a fast-paced investment banking environment.
• A team that wants to be led well — and the mandate to build the culture you believe in.
• Occasional travel to branch offices and data centers to stay close to the infrastructure you own.
