About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering and Quality with a proven ability to lead and mentor a small but growing team of 4 engineers while driving key projects forward in a fast-paced environment to develop, maintain, and advance our gas detection technologies, and to oversee the Quality Department. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer with a strong background in a relevant engineering subject (e.g. electrical, mechanical, or software/firmware/database engineering) with experience in managing an engineering team in preparation for rapid growth. The chosen candidate will be expected to serve as a hands-on technical contributor, an effective team leader, and bring valuable experience to the position.
Primary Responsibilities
● Lead and manage a growing Engineering team, providing guidance, support, and career development.
● Oversee the Quality Department and work with the Quality Manager to implement quality improvements in documentation and processes across the company, especially new product development procedures and engineering documentation, as we work towards ISO 9001 certification.
● Collaborate closely with other members of the Management team on new product development, future product strategy, quality improvements, and priority setting.
● Lead development and review of product specifications, including voice-of-customer inputs and validation.
● Oversee cross-functional project execution from concept through launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, innovative solutions developed within a stage-gate process.
● Provide engineering expertise to develop new products and services and improve existing products and manufacturing processes.
● Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, tools, and processes.
● Ensure product compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory standards.
● Work cross-functionally with Product Management and Operations to address customer and business needs with current products.
What You Bring● At least a bachelor’s degree in engineering (computer science, information technology, electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related field)
● Minimum 10 years of engineering experience within a high-growth technology company or a similar industry (e.g., instrumentation, sensors/chemical detection, or industrial safety).
● Experience working in a regulated, ISO 9000 or similar Quality system in a small technology company environment.
● At least 5 years of experience in an engineering leadership or management role.
● Excellent project management, communication, and team leadership skills.
